Unidentified Wiggle Gift

In the bag with the rest of my goodies from wiggle was a small (6cm or so) piece of aluminium that looked rather like a complicated beer bottle opener. Has anyone got one and knows what it is? First guess was that it might be wee tyre lever, but it looks to small to be useful. Maybe it is just a bottle-opener

    I've also had one.

I like beer 'n everything, but made me wonder why a cycle outfit would give away something that could be said to encourage drink-cycling.

Halfords don't give 'em away do they, when you purchase car bits??

I got one of these last year, then they started sending me mini bags of Haribo Tang-fastics instead, which was nice.

Out of curiosity, what free gifts would you like to see Wiggle supplying with your orders? (obviously, it has to be cheap, no carbon frames or groupsets etc  )

yes, I am very bored at work this afternoon

Nah, it's definitely not a water bottle.

Is it a SS tool at the other end? (I only found out what one was the other day)

Surly's Jethro Tule pocket tool is crafted from stainless-steel, then polished to a high luster. It combines an offset box wrench on one end with a leverage-enhanced bottle opener on the other.

The double-sided 15mm box wrench works with most bolt-off hubs on the market. It fits quite nicely inside recessed dropouts, including those found on our 1x1, Karate Monkey, and Steamroller frames. Quit carting around the Vice-grips; our smooth, spoon-shaped handle provides ergonomic pleasure for your palm under the most rigorous wheel-removing operations, at a fraction of the weight and bulk. And, it snaps open the fizzy reliably before, during, and after the ride. The Jethro Tule hangs nicely on a key chain and is light enough to carry comfortably anywhere. Being 'Thick as a Brick', it is built to last and to resist bouncing out of your pocket during a rough single-track ride, or cross-town jaunt.

I have to admit I don't know either. I was starting to assume an SS tool was someone who thinks a single gear is sufficient :P

    I also don't know what a 'single-track' is...

EDIT: so, is a 'SS Tool' a 15mm spanner? FFS. I'd expected so much more.

What do you do if you get a puncture on the Bowery? until recently you didn't even have a pump, did you?

I didn't say it was exciting!

But think about it - you don't get the chain tension from a rear derailleur, so you have to slide the wheel out once the chain is on (those horizontal dropouts!). A normal nut wouldn't do an SSer so it must be a Special Size (see what I did there?). Hence a fancy wrench for doing their special nuts.

I worked it out from first principles *proud*

Its an ergonomic offset double sided box wrench, actually.

    *assumes schoolma'am-ly demeanour*

For one, young man, I do not get p*nct*res. Secondly, if I did, I would be in central London, so would either a) go to a bike shop or b) jog home.

    Now tuck your shirt in.

And furthermore, all the non QR wheel nuts on bikes I have owned are 15mm. Is said ergonomic wrench ergonomic on both sides? Is 'wrench' not yankee for 'spanner'?

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?

    or b) jog home.

    carrying the bowery?

or would you leave the poor thing locked to a lamp post being circled by circling bike bandits?

Yeah, I'd take it with me, but I'd probably push it rather than carrying it...

Have you ever seen that episode of Scrubs where JD does a triathlon?:lol:

My shirt is well and truly tucked, and my shoes shiny. However, i have not washed behind my ears.

I have seen that episode, yes, it's hilarious! And when I'm on the bowery I'm on SPDs - fine for a bit of a jog.
