Hmm, very tempting as Herne Hill Velodrome is within a nice *gentle* warm-up ride from my house.........I even think I've ridden there before whilst taking part in a London wide school sports competition :-D

Only problem is weekend's are family time, so unless it opens at the crack of dawn and I can be home before 9/10am I'd have to give it a miss - I might be permission for one day a month tho and would really love to try some proper track riding!

Westfield eating, otoh, can be fun - check out 'meat and wine company' - does exactly what it says on the tin...

Best bet for Westfield is to stay in the Designer Street bit, which is chav-lite territory. At the junction of that and the main concourse your chav-alert warning light should be glowing. The chavometer alarms don't go off unless you continue in the same direction. So best to double back and head outside on to the street. I managed to get the GF out in just over two hours :)
  • I used to cycle at Herne Hill when I was a kid/teenager. I went a few times with the school, but most times I went was with my mates we used to basically hop over the fence and then play "pursuit" against each other on our road bikes or all go together in a line and see how long we could hold it together for, it was a good laugh though I doubt you can hop over the fence anymore. I noticed a couple of years ago that it has been resurfaced, which it sorely needed. I like the way it has been rebranded as a "velodrome", it used to be called Herne Hill Cycle Track.

I should really pop along to this one Sat morning. I've just got a Singlecross , so learning to up my cadence and trying out fixed is probably going to do me the world of good.

Not this weekend or next, but at some point I will deffo pop along.
