Cannondale 2009 Super Six model confusion

I can get hold of a Cannondale 2008/2009 Super Six bike with Ultegra SL in a 'Liquigas' colour scheme for a really good saving compared to the latest 2009 in a red/black colour scheme. The spec for the two models seems the same apart from the Fulcrum racing 5s on the cheaper bike and the Mavic Ksyrium Elites on the dearer model.
The retailer claims that the Liquigas colourscheme frame was released in late 2008 and (apart form a lug on the seat tube) is essentially identical performance-wise as the the newer frame. Can anyone verify this? And how much better are the Mavics over the Fulcrums? Any advice appreciated
