I need another fork to go on my bike as swapping one between two bikes is a bit of an arse to be honest.

I have a set of Revelation Coil U-Turn 426's at the mo.

Just wondering what teh difference between these and a set of Recon 351 Coil U-Turns would be, as I understand it they're basically the same fork but the Revs have an alloy steerer and the Recon's a Steel one, therefore a little heavier.

Does anyone know of any other differences and the weight difference.

Cheers

I think the Recon is a bit more XC, whereas the REvelation is more of a heavier duty fork (I think). Though I dont know what difference this would actually make. Whats the range of travel on them both? And for what sort of riding?

    They're both 85-130mm travel.

used for trail riding, XC duties, peaks & lakes, no hucking just normal run of the mill trail duties.

Some good deals on Rebas at the moment.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

I'll second the Reba suggestion, I think you can increase the travel to 120mm if you needed/wanted too. TBH I don't really know the difference between the Recon and Rev so can't help you there, but I'd always pictured the Rev as a slightly beefier fork, but maybe not :? . But the Recon is the next step up from the Tora, in the XC/Trail line of RS's forks, a bit lighter, but flexier.

The 2009 Rev has a different chassis, but for 2008 the recon and Rev were very similar - same lowers, bushings, seals, Uturn spring, the only difference being the steerer (which can be got in alloy for the recon), the motion control (which does not have adjustable floodgate on the recon) and the crown, which is lighter on the rev.

The Tora is exactly the same as a Recon but with cromo legs.

There's definatley some great deals @ merlin, however the forks have 185mm steerers and I need 200mm minimum, bloody long head tube you see.

Cheers for that Sonic, as I only ever seem to use the motion ctrl on my rev's to lock them out it's not much of an issue. Whats the weight difference (assuming both forks are '08 ) if you happen to know it.

The 08 Revelation coil Uturn was 4.5lbs with alloy steerer.

The 08 Recon with steel steerer seems to be 4.73lbs. Though I suspect that is the alloy steerer.
