Tram Lines

Cycle past tram lines in the road on my route all the time, I know the score, you have to go across them at at least 45 degrees, or you're going down. This morning I forgot, drifted into them, front wheel that was previously going about 18mph was grasped by the lines which seem almost designed to accommodate a road wheel and down I went. Road went through my bib tights and took a few layers of skin off, helmet took a knock so I'm glad that was there and my elbows bloody too.

My beautiful bike is all scratched too, side of the shifters and my look pedals took the worst of it, and the front wheel will need truing.

Tram lines, watch out for them!

Oh no! Your poor thing, that's a really rubbish start to the week.

I go over a couple of level crossings if I take the alternate route home - I will be extra-vigilant!

I walk along the (currently disused) tram lines on my way to work, watching the chavs on supermarket MTBs cycle along them, just hoping...
Sorry it happened to you instead!

Yep, bad start to the week. Sorry to hear that.

Out of interest, where do you commute to/from?

I'm on the Isle of Man, and my commute is only 3 miles or so, so I go in the opposite direction for a bit to make it up to about 10 miles. I finish off with a ride along the seafront, which has a horse drawn tram in the middle of the road:

I've lived here all my life, I know the score, you have to cross them from the side, not drift into them. Was just not paying attention today, and paid for it doh!

I wont forget again in a hurry!

Nasty. Hope it all heals up quickly.

Is that Douglas or Ramsey or somewhere else? I was best man at a wedding in St John's.

Cheers. Glad I had my helmet on, quite a large dent in it that's better than a hole in my head!

Douglas promenade. I cycle through st Johns all the time though, it's a great ride to Peel!
