With a bunch of mates called the Badgers, picked a few up along the way and at one point there must have been about 20-22 of us. Thouroughly enjoyed the whole day, the ride though was great averaged 20mph and because of being in a bunch I felt like I'd hardly worked at all. Whereas yesterday I did a 50miler averaged a tad over 17mph and was quite jaded.

Here's to group rides, I really must put myself out to make sure I get on more of the "Badger runs". :D

Are you any relation of the famed Nick Loasby, photographer extraordinaire?
Chickened out of riding there myself, after last year's fiasco of the 15 mile ride there, 8 mile back before phoning the wife to come & pick my useless carcass up from the roadside.

The Lincoln Grand Prix is always a good half day of racing. Good route as usual.

Michael Gate hill sucks, i can remeber battling it on the way to training at Yarboro (where it starts from) about 15 yrs ago. and i belive i never have since.
I always enjoy going up to watch.

Michael Gate hill last year on the wet slippery cobbles (is that the right hill) was entertaining for the riders I remember.

Yeh it is the cobbled section. it wasn't raining last year tho iirc. I was up there with two others on our bikes for a change.
Can't imagine it when wet, its bad enough getting up there in good conditions.
i have big respects for the guys that do it 11 times in a row.

Climbed it for the first time yesterday, on a compact 36-21 I found it reasonable. In the wet though would be difficult I would imagine, eleven times though, I can't imagine. :?

Yes sorry maybe it was in 07. One year it was definitely wet conditions, not nice. But always a great race. I like it cos it's quite informal for a cycle race round 'real' streets if you see what i mean.

yeh we usually ride up to the police stn on west parade then do the course in reverse stopping at various locations. only thing is riding up burton hill. 39-19 and my legs are no good. lol. theres a great shop at the burton waters boat marina for drinks and ice lollys if you go that way. can't wait for next year.
