Hi,
I have a Deuter Streamer 2L Bladder. I soak it in Miltons over night. The only thing is to get it dry! Water manages to lie in the tube and the bladder itself. HELP. Is there a way to leave it to drip dry completely and also get the water out the tube?

Thank you

You just need to give it a good rinse then stick it in the freezer, job done!

i find freezer isnt good idea and it gets very hard and i do wonder if the laws of nature will take hold.

    ie : freeze+plastic= broken/damaged.

i have tried it and it doesnt break but i wonder if it compremises the bladder if repeated

personally just hang dry then like you said miltons every now and then

i rinse mine out then hang it over the shower curtain rail over night and just squeeze the nozzle a few times to release any liquid

I've been freezing mine for ages without any problems now and there's a lot of others on the forum that do the same, probably for years in some cases. Just run it under the tap when you take it back out to soften it back up quickly.

thank you for the advice. I guess there is no quick and easy way. I know that some bacteria survive in the freezer.

Freezing the bladder is not really a method to kill the bacteria, its more about not having to dry it out.

If it's clean when it went IN the freezer, it'll be clean when it comes out.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Get a wire coat hanger, bend it about so that it fits inside the bladder but holds it open, then hang up to dry.

When freezing, do you put the pipe and valve in as well, or just purely the bladder?

All of it. Get home, rinse out well, give it a quick shake, and put the whole lot in a carrier bag and straight in the freezer.

    Job done.

I can't see that freezing would be a problem. The bladder is made out of the same stuff that those reusable injury ice packs are made out of, aren't they?

It does not damage the plastic at all.

You should also take the bite valve off the end of the pipe so it drains and dries out better

Or use a bottle and fling it in the dishwasher :)

Or just chuck it all in the freezer.

Disconnect the tube from the bladder and remove the bite valve. Making sure no-one can see you, hold one end of the tube firmly and whirl it round and round until the tube is dry. Best to do it outdoors unless you want water all over the ceiling and floor

I use a hydrapak and camelbak depending on how much fluid I'll need (one smaller than other).

Both get washed/rinsed, then the whole things goes.......

    Yep

    In the freezer!
