Headset bearing cartridge knackered?
Was notcing a clicking coming from the headset which was gradually getting worse. A mate told me to drop the fork out and clean it out which I did and noticed that the bottom cartridge that contains the bearing was covered in brown oxidisation. So I set about cleaning it with WD40 and turned out that the cartridge was a factory for this brown crap and I gave up after using half a can. I then chucked it in a pot of white spirit and it turned the whole thing murky brown so I gave up on that too. All I can think is that the seal has broken and the bearings have turned to rust.
Does it sound like it's buggered? And if so can I just replace the one cartridge? All I know is that it's a Neco headset and the frame is a Kinesis KIC2.

Sounds like your bearing is past it - you can get replacement bearings but they're often as expensive as a new headset. Better quality bearings are stainless and have better seals. You'll probably get the headset spec from the Kinesis websiteMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

~This will work as its the same as I use http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/FSA_Orbit_CC_Integrated_Aheadset/5360013188/
It is possible to pop the seals out with a small screw driver like the jewellers use, you can them give them a good clean and regrease before popping the seals back in.0
