Following on from yesterdays windy thread. 5pm came and I set off on the epic 8 mile journey into the teeth of a pretty nasty headwind, I cycle along the prom from Cleveleys and it is horrible, the thighs are instantly burning, I am averaging about 7mph and legs are going like the clappers, its gusting to speeds of 45 mph according to a local weather station and I am being tossed around, I hug the sea wall to try and get some kind cover, pass a couple more cyclist who have given up and now walking, the journey has taken me about 20 mins longer than normal. A stone throw from home and I reach a junction where a que cars are there waiting for the lights to change, I pass most on the outside and as I approach a transit van, a woman in a chelsea tractor on the phone heads straight for him, him bangs his horn and she swerves, meanwhile I have slammed the anchors on, and then try and get the feet out, oh SH!T a clipless moment is in the offing, I just manage to tilt towards the van and put my hand up and lean against it but made a bit of bang in doing so, the van man comes out thinking I had been knocked off, we laugh and curse the woman driver and get on our way.

Bloomin' 'eck! That was an exciting trip home mate! Love it when it's tricky - you get a real sense of achievement when you get to where you're going... you're still alive!
