Hi I'm having trouble getting the cassete of my bike wheel I bought the shinamo compatible lockring remover so it says but when i tried to insert into the groves it wont go in its like its slightly to big for my cassette even though the casste is shinamo and the tool i get is shinamo compatible?
maybe I should hit with a hammer and it will fit but all the vids i have watched this is suppose to drop in there also a bolt there and again on the vids i ahve watched there is no mention of removal of this bolt, should i remove this bolt ?
the wheel is quick release I mean the bolt under this if you get what I mean..

You get freewheels and cassettes - and slightly different tools for each.
You sure you got the right one? What bike and spec?0 -
Its an old giant rock 05 i think, the cassete isn't the original one its a HG20 6 speed thing the original is 7 speed ?
my friend put it on and it dont work with my new chain either the chain just slips
the reason I started changing stuff beacuse the chain was slipping under load like going up hills or gravel paths..
the tool i have is
CYCLEPRO SHIMANO CASSETTE LOCKRING REMOVER CPT201..0 -
Almost undoubtedly you have a screw on freewheel cogset rather than a slide on cassette and will have the wrong tool.
Have a look at this and see if it helps:

Also be aware that you may have the wrong chain, or it s worn and will slip.0

Yea looks like youre right .. so now i need a freewheel puller to get this off ?0

Yep! Has a slightly different spline pattern (for shimano and equivalents compared to a cassette, most common) and you don't need a chain whip to hold the cogs down. Insert tool, and turn anti clockwise. Or put the tool in a vice, put the whel on top and use the wheel as the lever.0

The chain is bran new its KMC and looks identical to the one I took off
