Maybe it means that's how long it takes to shave that bit of your arm...

    I agree, though!

Just had a chat with mate in office about the number of guys at the club who do shave

seems like you are not taken seriously unless you have silky smooth legs

    Find it a bit odd.

Quite new to cycling but want to TT next season.

Gel your leg hair and part it down the shin bone, slicking it round the calf into a fin..... more aerodynamic than a shaved leg. You may even start a new trend at the club

I thought shaving legs was for a ouple of reasons, aerodynamics not being that high amongst them.

Nothing worse that catching your leg hairs in lycra / spandex and hairs poking through tights looks, well a bit sh*t.

to minimse the chance of hairs getting caught in cuts, scrapes and lowering the risk of infection.

Please feel free to point out my misconceptions or from any people who do shave, let me know the reason.

The chances of hair causing infection is very, very low. Your body has hair for a reason and if it caused infection the minute you got a scrape or cut, I think we'd be looking at a complete evolutionary failure

I think we may have the real reason here... it's all about being one of the gang, isn't it?

I shaved my legs and went clipped originally cos that was what I thought you were supposed to do

Still I like the look now...and it feels good

I read somewhere that pro cyclists shave their legs because the have sports massages before/after races and apparently getting your hairy legs/ass massaged can be quite painful!

To much effort to shave - I display my hairy legs and black socks with pride

I'll stick to hairy legs so I don't look silly in real life. I'd like to think that when I'm riding people won't see the odd hair poking through my lycra as they speed past me.

Wouldn't those wrinkly gloves have more resistance than a few hairs on your arm?
I don't know about anyone else but the ad won't click through for me so I'm none the wiser as to what they're trying to say.

They're trying to say if you shave really really quick you can get out on the bike sooner

Yeah. Normally I think their ads are clever, but I don't like this one much.

I haven't waxed or shaved for several years now. Yes, sure, smooth legs look better, but what's the point if you have shaved/waxed legs and then someone with hairs all over the place overtakes you? Nothing more demoralising on the bike than that.

Or by a total ned (chav) wearing a tracksuit and riding a Halfords Appolo thing whilst smoking a cigarette.

I think I'd just give up if that happened.
