Anyone got a good Darwen Moor/Tockholes route?
I rode over to Darwen Tower from Rivi last weekend, going through Tockholes. I really liked some of the riding on Darwen Moor. When I rode through Tockholes on the main BW I got the impression that there was perhaps more interesting riding in there.
I'm thinking of putting a ride together in the Darwen/Tockholes area - anyone got any good routes to base it on?

Can take you round my back yard if you like. No doubt Dave Hill can also help.Frank Yates0

I regularly do a short 12 mile evening loop from Sunnyhurst, up to the tower, down to Roddlesworth for a cheeky bit of singletrack and back up over Darwen Moor finishing in the pub! There's loads of tracks up there and they all connect up to each other, most of it is footpath though, which is why I tend to go up at night!0

May take you up on that in a few weeks - I'm old, slow and fall off a lot though.Higs0 -
I'm older than you, just as slow and fall off a lot as well.

Thread resurrection time....
I've been up Darwen Moor loads and went up Rivington a few times, a long time ago.
However, I'm going to be spending a lot more time up Darwen in the near future so would like to know the way across from Darwen Moor towards Rivington and beyond. I've heard talk of a '3 towers ride'. If anyone's got a gpx files for rides round here I'd be grateful if you could email me them. (pm me and I'l let you have my email address).
Cheers0 -
Going there Friday afternoon. Any chance you could have to visit some customers?Frank Yates0

Pass stamped. However I am working in the morning, so won't be there much before 12.30. Still gives us time for a good ride. OK?
I'm really going because I've just put a new cassette and chain on the Yeti, and want to make sure that chainring isn't knackered as well - the chainring that I changed after that Todmorden ride we did, so it should be OK.
Meet at Bottom Barn, but not in the car park. That will be full of dog walkers and 'ikers. Meet on the road opposite leading to the Top Barn, park on the left.
Any problems ring me.Frank Yates0 -

That's it. The road to park on runs under your arrow. See you 12.30 ish. 20 miler OK? Off to work now.Frank Yates0

Great ride that MFC. Now where's the piccies of that castle ride?
Your turn to do the guiding next - Gisburn Forest it will have to be. Plumped for a new P7, so that will need a test once it's delivered and built up.Frank Yates0 -
Cheers, TT. I had a great day and did get sun burnt. You do realise what you've done by buying an Orange! When's your brainwashing session?
Is this the pic you meant?.....

Notice the arty farty composition there. Just caught the other guy coming through the arch, nice timing.
Remind me again. Did the piccie of my ride over there not come out, or have I not got the balls to try?Frank Yates0 -
I'll have you know, I waited for the other guy to be in shot before commencing my death defying feat! Your pass over didn't come out too well, I think you must have gone too fast or too high!
Good photo though, it's now the wallpaper on the computer!0 -
Is that in lever park, and what is it called - I've forgotten
Nice pic thoughNow that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -
