The company I work for are going to join the C2W scheme using Halfords as the supplier. Does anyone know if there are any LBS or manufacturers who will accept these vouchers as well?
I was hoping to buy a touring style bike which I don't think Halfords supply.

Condor Cycles will take Halfords vouchers and you can get a fantastic Condor Heritage tourer for under £1k. It is worth the trip to view and get fitted. They can then deliver for £25.

Action Bikes, whose branches are dotted about London will take the voucher too.

Yeah, apparently Halfords can order anything, but once it's arrived, (a) do you really want to rely on the Halfords staff to do a decent job of setting it up so as not to render it a deathtrap? And (b) if they've had to source a bike they don't usually carry from another supplier, you'll have a hell of a job getting them to exhcange it if the size/spec isn't exactly what you wanted once you've given it a test ride.

I got mine through C2W from Condor Cycles; great bike and great service.

Would it be possible to take the bike boxed up to your LBS and have them set it up?

Probably have to pay though mind. But it's better than Halfords doing it.

by law they have to give the bike a Pre Dispatch Inspection which comprises of them building up the bike a setting up the gears, brakes and check the bike over for any problems.
you could then ask them to rebox the bike or just take it as it is to your LBS.

    What law states that?

My Spesh arrived in the box unopened and I built it up myself.
  • I've heard conflicting things about using your H*lfords voucher elsewhere. When our work started its cycle to work scheme we were told that the vouchers could definitely not be used anywhere else- I don't know if it's a decision made by the employer or what, but as far as I'm aware no-one has got a bike not from H*lfords yet.
