    Jash,

I don't smoke - well perhaps half a dozen cigs a year. But I'll answer your question for you:

    a) it gives you a buzz
    b) it's addictive (to lots of people)
    c) it used to be cool then see b) above (actually if I'm honest it still does have an attractive "oh who gives a fook" edge to it, just outweighed by the general nastiness and health risks)

But I reckon you knew that already...

I'll be honest, despite never being a regular smoker, I do really enjoy one cig every now and again. I'm just lucky that the second one is much less appealing...

I used to smoke, for about 2 years in my youth. Giving up was one of the best things I ever did, the smell of it makes me sick these days.

I have a sore throat this morning, after spending yesterday evening with mates in various Soho pubs well outside at least whilst they puffed away, yuk yuk yuk

Keriiiist I honestly don't understand why anyone smokes, especially first thing in the morning. Makes my stomach turn. A £20 a day habit adds up to a Wilier Mortirolo over the course of a year, or a shiny new groupset, etc etc.

£20 a day!! Isn't that about 70 ciggies, even if you pay full price? You may as well develop a coke habit - might help with the commute too.

As for the breakfast thing - I never eat anything before commuting. Not for weight loss reasons or anything like that, it's just pure laziness - I'm typically on the road less than 10 minutes after getting out of bed (17 miles, reasonably hilly). Once at work I scoff a bar of whatever type of Soreen I can find on supermarket special offer at the time, and perhaps another half for elevensies.

Porridge. With evaporated milk, linseed and sugar. Topped off with plain yoghurt. Yum.

I started smoking at boarding school, aged 13, ramped it up to a 20-a-day habit by 17, hit 40-a-day by 21, quit at 23.

Now really, really can't stand it. Bleurgh. I hold my breath when I walk/cycle past someone who's smoking...

Bowl of porridge with a T spoon of honey, unless like today it was really windy and had a full desert spoon of honey and a glass of OJ. Dinner chicken salad and yogurt and fruit and two nana's an hour before I set off tonight. Plenty of water and 3 cups of tea during the day.

This morning I managed time for 3 scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast and a glass of OJ.

Yesterday I managed a crust of said bread with a bit of butter smeared across it. hmm.

Felt great cycling yesterday, but full today. I need a canteen at work

  • Back on the tea front...

An important client of mine recently asked me for a "white tea" when we were in a meeting. So I went to the kitchenette and made her a cuppa PG with milk in it. Her look of disgust when I returned to the meeting room was something to behold.

I now know what white tea is and have actually become quite partial to it. When I'm not drinking black coffee or alcohol that is...

I often find myself in the garden at parties as IME the smokers are usually more fun than the non-smokers. And of course you're not having to shout yourself hoarse. :)

large bowl of cereal (Cheerios, Rice Crispies or Corn Flakes) with soya milk and some kind of fruit (banana, craisins, lately those frozen blueberries from Sainbury's freezer section)

couple cups of weak black instant (that's all we have) coffee at the desk to get my work head on and make believe I'm rehydrating
