before i say anything just try and view this from my point of view and not a cyclists

i have pleayed football all of my life. well since i could walk. and its never really looked good. i have now joined a 7 a side team about a month r two a go and im enjoying it but i have got into road biking around the same time.

WHAT DO I DO

on may the 10th there is a bikeathong [road] around the lincs wolds for lukemia research i can do 10 25 or 40 miles. but i have also been chosen for a football tournament in hull on the same day.. poss the same time

I REALLY WANT TO DO BOTH.

the bike i would use would be the carrera virtuouso and it would litterally be my first ride on it as i get the bike on thursday.

i would appreciate all views becuase this is really on my mind.

i think i could be very good at cyclist one day but i must admit.. to much attentiion is paid to football and too many foreigners are been bought so english kids dont have a chance to make it big anymore

im 14 with big dreams in cycling. but i still have a shot at football of becomng pro

please help

If you've been chosen for footy already it would be a shame to let your mates down. I would therefore say go to the footy, and enjoy yourself as there will be plenty of time to go out on your bike.

I would also suggust going out on your new bike on your own of with a couple of mates in the first instance. It would be best to get use to the bike without all the pressure of lots of other cyclist around you, and committing yourself to a big ride straight away.

There's lots of other sportives/charity rides around and if you really want to do one am sure you'll find one which you can do over the summer.

For now do both as your yong but realistically the odds on being a pro fotballer in the UK are stacked against you.
How many UK players are there in the premier currently? How long is their career on average?
    Basically a very limited chance.
Anyway cycling can be done for much longer at a competative level, I only recently returned after 23 years away, wish I had the chance to have had the choice at younger age :(

Go to the footy on the 10th - there'll be lots more organised rides to go on (& nothing to stop you from putting something in the tin for the charity even if you don't go)

    Footy. Go and enjoy it!

(Although I don't personally like it)

Go and enjoy the football. If you don't you'll be letting yourself and your team mates down as you have already been picked to play.

I agree, plenty of time to be riding after you play your football match :-) Hope it all goes well too...
