This may open whole can of grease...but following the threads on here about Ti frames who does do the best fitting and custom frames...we maybe having No.3 and the wife has given me permission to buy a bike that actually fits me rather than one that almost does.

ou don't say what you budget is or what you require from the bike. Arguably the best Ti bike is the Serotta Legend, available from cyclefit in London who may have something ex-demo. Fat Birds don't fly is near you and they might be able to advise on eg Van Nicholas. At the lower end,Enigma currently have a deal on frames, the Planet X Lynskey is supposed to be good and there is Zero Four who do custom. There are some US builders but it's serious money (as is the Serotta)

Have a chat to Justin Burls. You won't get service like it from any large company.

I got a Ti frame from him, and the fitting involved little more than going for a ride with him. Very no-nonsense, but he transformed my fit that was - at the time - way off. I know that I can spend ten hours on the bike and still be comfortable (saddle allowing). The bike has since been excellent doing duties ranging from touring to club runs and sportives which is exactly what I asked for.

Oh, and comparing the prices with Serotta will give you a nice surprise.

Do you definately want a TI frame? Because you can get carbon fibre frames custom built.

Oh a Parlee custom built carbon frame would be my idea of heaven but it aint going to happen -

just realised I haven't checked my lotto ticket for Sat yet so maybe......:lol:

I have the Planet X so I would say the Lynskey custom built Ti frames would be great too. Not sure of cost though but give the price of the dollar against the pound I would say probably out of budget.

Have a look at Enigma which I wouldn't say was that low end, certainly not their top models. Best thing is a phone call to discuss what you actually want and go from there. £3k is a good budget and I would be very surprised if you didn't find something you love with that budget. There are so many ti manufacturers now.

Some links to whet your appetite.

Their's a company called "Aberlink" based at a place called Eastcombe nr Stroud in Gloucestershire. They do custom built Ti frames. They work in conjunction with a chap called Andy Morgan. He runs his own custom fit and bike building company. Goes by the name of Kinetic-one. Have a look on his web site. He's a really helpful bloke. Well worth a call for advice.
