I have around £500 to spend on some decent wheels. I had been considering the Roval Fusee but have been told that they aren't that good. I am looking for something that can be used for racing so they need to be quite aero and light but also reasonably strong for those longer summer rides.
I won't get carbon for that price but any suggestions for alternatives would be gratefully recieved

I too have heard of the Rovals being a case of style over substance.
Some other contenders must be Shimano DA785024CLs at around 500 quid, or the Shimano RS80s which share the same technology apparently, or the Easton EA50SLs or a couple in the Reynolds range.
Or the Fulcrum Racing 3s could be a contender. Cheaper too.0 -
You can get carbon for that price. I got some 50mm Carbon tub rims (same that Planet X use) on Joytech Superlight hubs built with CX Rays. For less than £500.
They are stiff, light and comfortable. Very, very good for the money.

Planet X are about to put their carbon wheels on sale so might be worth hanging around if carbon is what you do want.
