I've just bought one, but now I've realised I've no idea how it connects to the bike.

I'm assuming you don't need a brooks saddle? I've got Fizik Ariones on my bikes, which obviously don't have the loops like a Brooks does...

Any one got any pictures of how their Carradice saddle bag connects to their bike?

I've heard the bagman is best.

You can just put the straps through the saddle rails but then they bang on your legs and swing around loads.

Hmmm.....not really what I wanted to hear :?

I guess I'll give it a go just putting the straps through the saddle rails. I only wanted a large saddle bag for occasional uberlong rides so I don't want something permanent on just one or all of my bikes as I was only playing using the saddle bag now and again.

There's a bagman on ebay right now?

If you just got it you could exchange it for something else? Don't carradice do a sort of giant saddlebag, like a bigger version of the altura or ortlieb ones?

It's only a 11litre saddlebag and it's not though I'll be loading it up heavy, so I reckon I can probably get away with just putting it through the saddle rails.

I only want it for the odd audax and long rides to carry some sandwhiches/pump/waterproofs

Yep, I'm thinking of getting a carradice, it doesn't make it clear if they come with or without a fixing device, of course, all saddles once came with saddle bag slots

I might just get around to getting a Brooks when I can afford it :?

  • Carradice do a very large (8l) seat pack - the Super C. Fits to your saddle rails.

I've got one and it's not bad - you wouldn't want to be taking it off and putting it back on too often as it's a little bit of a faff but fine if you're going out for a day ride.

It doesn't feel like an 8l capacity, though. Perhaps it's just that the shape is a little awkward.
Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.

the bagman qr just snaps off, I think it leaves a couple of little thingummies on your seat rails but the fram itself stays with the bag.

I got one of these for commuting

it's not as big as a carradice though, but it just leaves a little Klickfix block on the seatpost when I don't use it.

You could try one of these

Fit's to your existing saddle rails. Would be OK for occassional use and cheaper than the SQR system.
  • The cheap unobtrusive solution:
    clamp on bag loops

You can connect the bag to the rails and it would be fine
An SQR block is a much better solution
It's too late now you have the bag but IMHO the "SQR Tour" bag is much nicer
