Hayes Bleeding Problems

I've bought the hayes bleeding kit for my hayes strokers and the 1st couple of attempts at bleeding have failed miserably. i'm at the stage of squeezing the bleed bottle with the tube attached to the bleed nipple, bubbles are seen exiting the master cyclinder and exiting into the drain bottle. after the 2nd\3rd squeeze of the bleed bottle, the caliper bleeder starts to leak. i've tried opening the caliper bleeder an 1/8th and conversley opening wider to a half but get the same thing happening. Am I doing something wrong or could there be a faulty component here?
