Sore Sit Bones!

After years in the saddle over shorter distances upto 50 miles - triathlon, MTBing - I am extending my longer rides and will be doing the Dragon Ride in June. My problem is that after about two hours riding I get extremely uncomfortable and sore site bones
I am not sure how I am going to cope with 8 hours in the saddle (currently have a specialized OEM BG that came on my 'o4 Allez Elite)!
I have consulted various fora re comfy saddles, but it all seems to be very person specific and not sure how you "find" the best saddle without buying and trying.
(I have invested in some Assos shorts on the back of the Cycling Plus reviews).
Any advice?

Have you tried different seat positons?
It may be just the way your bike is set up?0 -
