Think they are lighter than wire beads mate, normally folding are kevlar beads i think but i'm not 100% sure. Not sure on the cons though?!!

They are lighter which is a good thing some of the time but the main advantage in my experience is that you dont need tyre levers to get them on and off

I would get folding bead. You save upto 100g per tyre in some cases, for a few quid.

Also often the treads are better compounds too.

I pay for folding, it's a good chuck of weight saved, from the most important place on the bike, for a reasonably small amount of money. I guess it depends on your priorities :)

Some companies do light folding tyres for £20 anyway.

I stuck with the folding panaracers in the end and they have a plain black wall. Think I prefer them.

Do you have the proper panaracers or the cheaper ones ? The cheaper ones have the small red logo and the more expensive type which have a better compound and are more puncture resistant have a big white logo.

I personally go for folding tyres because they are lighter and I can get them on and off without tyre levers. Yes they cost a bit more but its well worth it when your trying to fix a flat in the pouring rain.

The wire bead versions of tyres are fine but you need to be careful with some of the really cheap tyres you can find on ebay and the like they are often what are known as OE meaning original equipment and are made to fit cheap bikes. They might look the same but are made from cheaper harder rubber compounds they will last a long time but have the grip of an ice cube.

I've never really noticed the difference in changing the tyre personally :? I've found them fairly similar, stuck a wire High Roller on a bike only yesterday, no massive difference to the folding version (aside from 100g or so :P).

If you can't afford it then get the steel: just that as upgrades go I think folding is about the best and cheapest option.

You know what I was saying about them being more puncture resistant ? Well its arse...

I've just been out to the shed to put my backpack and helmet away and I've got a puncture :(

Just compared to spending 20 quid more on say an XT rear mech rather than SLX lol it is better in that sense. Or buying a 50 quid stem.

I think you get more TPI (threads per inch) which is meant to be better on puntures on the folding. Thats with the Fire XC btw.
