Looking at these to go with the new speedplay pedals on order.
I have never heard of Gaerne before. Can anyone tell if these are any good, or tell me anything about the brand in general?
Cheers.

A pair of Gaerne shoes did very well in a budget group test in cycling+ last month.

Gaerne have been around for yeeeears - so they should know what they are doing.

I wouldnt buy mail order though - you want your contact points to be comfy.

I'd advise you check out the Spesh shoes if you havent already.

I believe Cadel Evans wears them.

I was on the verge of ordering some from Chain Reaction but they never responded to my emails asking if they are compatible with SPD-SL cleats.

you missed out a couple of words....

"I believe Cadel Evans is paid to wear them.."

Gaerne makes good shoes, but it doesn't mean they will suit your feet. Try before you buy...
  • gaerne are v good, also i think they've only just started importing them again this year? (i stand to be corrected).

They were missing for years, I bought the black and yellow learther ones in 1990 for £85 and they were great, I dstill have one and can't bring myself to throw it.

I have the Specialised ones reduced from £140 to £80 and they are very good.

the fact that they are 'pig' ugly might not put you off.... but he fact that cadel evans wears them should put you off..

but seriously i have bought some new shoes recently and tried on 7 different types/brands and only one pair fit me as though i was'nt wearing any...

    try lots and lots...
