Folks after just 3 rides on my new Kenda nevegal stickies my rear one has failed along the seam nea the rim on both sides although one is a lot worse than the other. The riding was all at Kielder on the deawater and new trail as well as newcastleton.

ive checked the rim and there is no damage to the rim and its smooth too so not caused by the rim.

Question is anyone else had this problem and is it down to something on the trail or should I be posting them off to claim on a warranty thing??

Cheers in advance
Dan

did you buy them online or in a shop?

I would be wanting a replacement for those on warranty.

looks like a low pressure failure?

Nick could you explain how low px would cause this kind of failure

    Thanks

Moving around more than intended, causing the walls to stretch and eventually rip.

    What pressures were you running?

Hi guys the rims are dt swiss 445d that came with my pitch pro.

The tryes are 2.35 Nevegal stickies and was running them at 40 psi.

The rides I did was 65 k cross border ridge route to newcastleton, Kielder deadwater red and black and then a blast round Newcastleton XC route so in all about 110 ks of pedalling.

Thanks for the help just want to know what caused it and wether it was my fault or tyre failing.

Now to decide what to replace it with

I had a folding Nevegal that did exactly that last year. Had a few more rides out of it than you, 5 months or so. Its like the outer rubber just tore away and then peeled off from the bead. Kenda's folding tyres don't seem as well made as other manufacturers. Pity because the Nevegal tread is really good.

Ive had that happen on Nevegals, stopped riding them as I dont get the same problem on Maxxis tyres running the same pressure. One had worn right through to the material under the rubber- could of been nasty on some of the descents we were doing that day...

My Blue Grooves are going the same way although they've lasted pretty well ( the rear's nearly bald!) Won't be having them again though, they're way too draggy.
