hello, i have been on here for years but not really been posting and making topics etc

i used to own an orange patriot

it was fully kitted and such a swet ride

Copy20of20Picture81.jpg

i then sold the frame and some parts and got a hardtail, then this happened

Image161.jpg
Image162.jpg
day20120monday.jpg
day201.jpg
day20320wednes.jpg

so i gave up, sold everything and had a break, years later i find my self owning a scott mc40 and now im building a jump bike, on budget though, i got this for nothing

P210409_1636.jpg

now come on guys, be nice lol

the frame is ok for what i want, the parts, well, plastic pedals and 3 chainwheels upon front, what more can i say!

it now has single chainwheel, which i had to dril the rivets out to take the other 2 chain wheels off

the front mech is gone, puncture fixed, headset sorted, front disc kinda working

i will take update photo later on

i will be fitting better bars, stem, rear hydraulic, hs33 preferably, making it single speed

gone from a patriot, to a mc40, to a saracen crap frame lmao ah well, beggers can't be choosers!

look for an old set of dirt jumpers, around 05-06. Strong as anything and just keep going and going.

City centre here, I had my bike stolen late last year and when I got the new one on the insurance I had plans to simply replace the fork for a rigid one and be done, and since I have found that freewheels snap under my weight (16st) and so had to have a drivetrain overhaul. I am almost happy with the bike as it does everything that I want from it, just a few little bits and bobs left (it all adds up) and with redundancy looming its getting tight indeed.

glad you getting back on your feet and dont worry about what other people think, people notice skill more than bike tbh

i now have a tioga stem, with answer pro taper handle bars, with thick black tape wrapped around the handle bars as the stem was too big and wouldnt clamp the bars up, oh dear! lol

put the marzocchi suspension on from my scott mc40 until i get a set of z1 drop offs

added my nice new gusset grips with new bar ends,

starting to take shape now, and it only owes me about 20 pounds so far lol

nice one, i like seeing ghetto builds :) you could eventually buy a new frame too!

if you're interested i have a 2001 marzocchi Z1 for sale, £50, great cond, it's bolt thru axle though... I'm also selling a cheap front hope m4 (£30), the hose isn't connected though so it will need bleeding.

Good luck with your build! I'm doing something similar with a carrera vulcan (though it's slightly better than this!), and trying to turn it into a decent XC bike. It's getting there!

Good on ya for the build mate and good luck with it.

Just to add my 2p's worth though, by removing your front mech and inner and outer chainrings you have effectively removed everything which stops your chain falling off the front!!!! If I was you id seriously consider some sort of chain device before your balls hit the crossbar and your back in the hospital.

    :D
