Been having a discussion here with a guy at work and I can't seem to find any further info so hope you guys could help.

Looking at the Specialized FSR Comp bike, however we want to see if it's possible to change the fork out for something with more travel.

Spec at present
FRAME FSR XC M4 tubing w/ new rocker design, bolt on cable guides, 120mm travel, sealed cartridge pivot bearings, disc only, replaceable rear derailleur hanger

REAR SHOCK X Fusion 02RLA, Custom tuned for Specialized, rebound adj. w/lock-out, 7.5x1.75", 2 bearing upper shock mount

FORK Rock Shox Tora 302 SL, 120mm, alloy steer, external rebound and preload adj. w/ LO,Ê S/M" "Standard", L/XL "Stiff" Coil spring.

*****
So wanting to hypertheoreticallyJuxaposeQuestionTypeThing

Is it possible to upgrade to a min 150mm coil travel fork on this bike or will it screw it all up and end up riding like a bag of hammers?

Answers on a postcard please

Fitting a 150mm fork will destroy the handling and almost certainly void the warranty/ be against the manufactures advice.

Why do you want to fit such a fork to a 120mm bike?, and whats wrong with the rs tora?

it's a hyperthetical argument that needs settling.. we are novices at the geometry stuff..

more importantly than the warranty, with a FSR xc and the sort of riding that'll require 150mm coil forks you'll probably rip the headtube off
