Lost my two wheeled mojo...

Lost it for a couple of years now. Where once I would jump out of bed, throw on the gear and be peddling in all weathers, or waiting for the new issue of C Plus and devouring every page, even the stuff that I didn't understand (group sets, VMax etc), and keeping a wall chart of the days I was riding and a log of my mileage on Excel, now...
Nope. Probably a consequence of being a freelancer and being so busy that my first waking thought is "deadlines" but, to be honest, I find walking much more fun these days, its easy to stop-start and look at things, easy for me to drive to place and just put on a pair of walking boots than it is to bring the bike (in a Mini), plus I don't get punctures, the wind and rain don't bother me as much, and no twunts in Beemers trying to clip my handlebars. To be honest walking is so much more stress free! And I find myself ploughing through walking magazines now, even the stuff that I didn't understand.
But when I have been back on the bike this year, I've loved it, but then next day... nah, take it or leave it.
I don't need a new bike, or new gear, but I need something!

Sounds like you have found something new you like and keeps you healthy! Don't worry about it0

But I do worry!
Its like loving someone for years and then waking up and thinking, "don't fancy you any more". I am a cyclist, its in my bones, but at the moment its not in my heart, mind or legs.Destroy them! Utterly!!0 -
Then have some time away, you'll get back into it! Just enjoy whatever you are doing and appreciate it for what it is! One day you'll get back on your bike and think "wow! this is great!"
Better than forcing yourself to ride your bke, not really enjoy it and have it put you off even more.
Oh, the other thing to try is watching this video -

I know the feeling - I wax and wane - I "should" be out on the bike now - I've cut the hedges, taken the clippings to the tip (lots of hedges btw - I'm on a corner plot and all my boundary is hedge) but I can't be a*sed - went to aldi and bought some rolls, ham, a bottle of wine and a two handed axe!? (For the log burner)
I walk too - I have a standing invitation to a mate who has moved to the lakes and another to a mate who lives in sight of Cadair Idris - I must do something.
Another glass of wine I think. Maybe next weekend...__________________

I should be out on the bike now too, but I can't either
I'd give up the use of my right leg to be out on the bike right now in fact.
Oh, right...0 -
Don't worry too much. I've got a few ways of spending money that apparently are called hobbies, cycling being the latest. I;m keen on photography and collect/ play (badly) guitars. But every now and again I'll enter a "can't be ars*d" phase with one or another of them. However given a bit of time my enthusiasm comes back. Then a different one will wane for a while. But they keep coming back

Been there done that. If it wasn't Walking or climbing it was Winter walking and climbing (significant difference, not just the addition of snow!). My several hundred £s worth of kit now sits in a cupboard. Golf was up there as well. My several hundred £s worth of clubs (2 sets now!) sit in the garage. They haven't been swung since last summer. They've been replaced by my latest interests, cycling (couple of K spent since Aug last year) and Watches (more than a few K spent in last 18 months). No doubt there will come a time when I look at my watches and bikes and wonder why, probably about the same time I decide I need new golf clubs and better crampons and ice axes!
Do what you enjoy and don't thrash yourself on something you don't - you'll only dislike it all the more until there comes a point where you'll never, ever do it again. (note: alcohol is the exception to this rule).0 -

A change is as good as a rest. Try something a bit different from the norm?
Cyclocross?, MTBing? TT? Set yourself a challenge, a 100+mile sportive to train for (and raise a bit of money for charity at the same time)?
If your happy walking fine. But it's just not cricket is it!"I spend my petrol money on Bikes, Beer, Pizza, and Donuts "
