The KMC chain on my bike is joined with a quick link. I'm going to be swapping it for a 10 speed Record chain, will this link be OK for joining the new chain or will I need to use pins and a chain tool?

Thanks
Jon

You'll need a campag specific KMC joining link, KMC chains have a different external width.

Thanks, I presume you don't get one of these provided with the chain?

No you get a pin with campag chains. I'd recommend getting a KMC C10 joining link though - well worth it IMO. Easy to screw up joining a chain if you're not sure what you're doing.

Thanks, pretty happy with how to go about joining a chain but much prefer having a quick link to make life easy when it comes to cleaning etc

Thanks for your help, I'll get one ordered.

I've used a KMC Shimano quick link on my Campag chains for the past year without realising until I bought a pair of new ones from Wiggle.
Worked fine with no problems at all.
Its only a difference of 0.5mm.Not sure it would work ok the other way round though?

Seems like I remember once using an 8 speed master link on a ten speed chain. It was an emergency fix, middle of nowhere, type of thing but it worked and got the guy home(with
a bit of clicking but nothing got trashed).

I did use a normal KMC link on a campag chain but it had a habit of sticking on the big ring when shifting down. However I guess that's an isolated situation but I wouldn't do it again.
