I bought my Guv'nor in November; best bike I've ever owned. Seriously. It was a 40th birthday present to myself and, like you, I secretly wondered whether I'd actually ride it, especially as I live in a hilly part of Sussex. I needn't have worried. I've only done 1,000 miles on it (him) but it's already my bike-of-choice on all but the wettest days (Pashley are working on some wooden mudguards, they tell me). I have five bikes altogether, including carbon and Ti road bikes, and if could only keep one, it would be the Guv'nor. I switched the standard 16T sprocket for a 20, which has proved a good move; I'm able to do all my usual rides with no problems; a little slower than on my Ti road bike, granted, but I'm spending more time admiring the scenery, which can only be a good thing. The Gun'vor will probably never replace 'ordinary' bikes entirely, but it definitely gives cycling a whole new dimension, and I've fallen in love with the sport all over again. My advice? Buy one. And if you have one-tenth of the fun I'm having, you'll consider every penny well spent.Hard work never killed anyone, but I figure: why take the risk?0

Inkslinger in particular, and other interested parties too, apologies for what might be considered self-promotion.
But a bicycle has rarely been so singularly deserving of a devoted following, and thus we wished to draw your attention to the Guvnor Owners' Club
Despite the name it is not a membership club as yet, but it is planned to be soon. We do hope to see you there.
In the meantime enjoy your Guvnors!0 -
Nah the guv'nor is a bit, common real gentlemen ride the phantom:
they are lovely though, but go for the extra large if you can get a leg over it, the double top tube looks amazing!0 -
Ha! A fair point about the esteemed Phantom.
In which case, what kind of man rides the Plus Four?

Not my thing, but they don't half stand out.....
Saw one from a mile off being ridden today....0 -
They all look good but I couldn't bring myself to pay more money for more weight & less performance.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

You wouldn't understand until you've ridden one.
You feel like the king of england whilst riding it, everything you see is yours.0 -
My girlfriend wants a Pashley, which I consider a rude request considering how much work I put into restoring a Raleigh Caprice for her
I do quite like the look of them. My next build is a Bob Jackson Vigorelli fixed-gear, going for a similar look to the Guvnor. Will be dark silver (grigio) with chomed forks and chainstays, drop bars and as much Brooks as I can stuff on it (tape, saddle, saddlebag, toe straps... er... oh yes Brooks tyre levers in the Brooks saddlebag too!).
So far the only bit I have is the crankset :shock:0 -

I might need one, too
Why was this brought to my attention?... I have enough problems trying not to spend money on bikes as it is!
Looks fabulous... Totally needless, but essential...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
I loved the Pashley stand at the bike show this year. I'm tempted by the new clubman....
