Single Speed Rigid Rockhopper

Just fineshed building my Rockhopper frame into a Rigid SS, all thats left to do is fit the rear Brake and polish the frame up

Bars: Kalloy Purple Flats
Stem: The 3t 100mm stem
Headset: Generic Cane Creek
Grips: Kona Race light

Front Brake Lever assy: Avid Juicy 5
Front Caliper:Avid Juicy 5 (Hose now cable Tied Down:)
Front disc: Avid G2 160mm
Rear Brake Lever assy: Avid Speed Dial 3

Cables: NA
Front Mech: NA
Rear Mech: NA


Seat: Felt Fizik Copy
Seat Post: Specilized Alloy
Seat Post Clamp: Trans X

Cranks: SR Suntour
Pedals: Wellgo V8 Copy

Weight: 24 pounds/11.5 kg

Im running a 32/16 combo, and the chain tension is perfect, i have a On One tensioner to fit if i change sproket.

So what do people think?

PS its harder work than my gearie, but so much fun

    It felt wierd not thinking about the gears, and was alot harder than my Gearie, but it felt so good, more natural kinda

    I remember that, now i nearly always singlespeed, I'm a lot stronger and I love it!

    PLus its 3.5kg lighter than my Geared, it just feels quicker

    Nope its a plain SS, just the rear brake hasnt arrived yet

    Looks like you've managed to get a nice chain tension there. First few times out on my SS I kept reaching for the shifters!

    Takes a while to get used to not shifting. And when you go back to gears, you'll find you'll use a gear similar to your SS setup, and mash it or spin like crazy, rather than changing up / down... I did anyway :lol:

    I'm building up a HT hack/mess about bike I think it'll probably start off as a SS and see how I get on. It'll probably start rigid too...
