Some more questions from a newbie!

Following on from my other inane threads, I have a couple more questions.

Firstly, the bike I own is this Hybrid: http://www.boardmanbikes.com/hybrid/hybrid_team.html. My questions are:

1. Could someone recommend the correct type of inner tubes to buy from the Halfords or Wiggle websites?

2. Where do you measure from and to for the seat tube? I ordered a Medium sized bike but I am sure I have been given a Small. It doesn't really matter as it fits me okay but I just wanted to check.

3. Would these cycling shoes be okay for this bike? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/dhb_R ... 360033177/ I didn't think I would need to buy any specific shoes but am finding it difficult to get my feet into the pedals whilst I have been wearing some sports sandals. Would normal slim line trainers be okay?

4. Gears. Now I know this bike was built for me by Halfords (a complaint e-mail has gone into their CEO based on the advice on these forums due to the lack of service I received when picking up the bike - i.e. no advice given to me whatsoever) and I had to go to them due to my company's Cycle2Work scheme so there is a chance they could have been built incorrectly.

For the front gears, I have a choice of 1, 2 and 3. For the rear gears I have a choice of 1 - 9. Whilst cycling for the first time properly this morning, the front gear didn't go into 3 hardly at all. I managed to get it into 3 once but the other times it wouldn't move onto it. Is this correct or is it wrong? I didn't want to force it.

Thanks.

BTW - my posts will subside once I have had my bike for a bit! ;)

    1 - Any 700 x23c inner tubes

2 - It's difficult to say because of the compact geometry - seat tube is measured from the bottom bracket to where the seat tube would intersect if it was level rather than sloping...

3 - If you have clip in pedals they'll be great. If you have flat pedals / toe straps they will be utterly useless!

4 - The gears haven't been set up properly

You don't have 3 gears on the front!

you have 2. That's why it won't go into 3. The shifter has 3 so that it can either work with a double or a triple, you have a double.

Lucky Halfords is close to me!!! I just went there and was told exactly the same thing! They said they don't make the gear levers without going up to 3. I felt a bit of a tit but who cares!!! :D

:lol:Sue Halford for psychological trauma; if they had explained in the first place you would not have had to ask and therefore you would not be feeling like a Tit![/b]

I have never heard the like!

How comes? Because they didn't tell me in the first place?
