I finally got a monkey off my back last weekend....and drowned it this weekend!

There's a vicious climb at the back of our village that is just silly steep. When I started I couldn't get up it, even on the MTB. For 2 years I've avoided it 'cos I was scared that I'd been conning myself all this time about getting fitter.

Then at the end of a 2hr run with my mate he just said "lets finish on THE HILL". I couldn't not and low and behold I got up fine - some pain but I did it.

Then on Sat after an hour and a half of different hill repeats (some on a 20% 5min hill, some on a 10% 20 min climb) I did it again.....

    Well chuffed :D

    Life is great!

My wife and I are expecting our first child in October. The wife's doing great, feeling great and looking great - we are truly blessed.

Spent a very pleasant long weekend finishing off building my summer bike and doing a couple of decent rides on it.

Also helped a mate give his bike a tune up - a very enjoyable couple of hours out in the sunshine on Saturday morning, shooting the breeze and playing with wrenches - all good! :D

Congratulations. It is indeed a blessing. You're on the tarmac, the engines are revving. Enjoy the adventure. It's the BEST.
If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers.

I'm on the 4 day week too, it's great isn't it?
Otherwise I've just had a great 3 weeks holiday in Oz and I returned to work this morning to find I still have a job, so life is indeed good.

Just been camping at a beautiful site in Fleet, Dorset overlooking the bay and a few miles from Weymouth. Weather wasn't perfect, but I feel relaxed and refreshed and now have 5 days of riding ahead of me, which will hopefully include a club run with Hemel Hempstead's slow group (my first club run) on Sunday. To make me smile even more I have the choice of either road or MTB (road is winning at the mo) and have just ordered some chamois cream to go with the new Endura FS260 Pro bibs, jersey and gloves I already have. Just got to plan some routes on the Garmin now......
