Post puncture question - tyre more squidgey above the valve?

Hi folks
Had the joys of my first puncture on my road bike today. Replaced the inner tube and all seemed fine, however the tyre seems to be a little squidgier just where the valve is. Pretty much rock solid around the rest of the tyre. I refitted a couple of times but had the same thing every time.
I'm sure this isn't the case on my hybrid or any old bikes. Should I be alarmed? I can't think of any reason why this would be the case.
Thanks in advance!

I cant't see why that should be either, but if it was me i would deflate it and try again. If the problem persists, let it down, move the tyre round a little (so the same part is not over the valve) and try again. It maybe that the tube is swelling around the valve, but moving the tyre will let you know if its the tyre or the tube. Good luck!Another tree...another cracked rib!!0

i should check the tyre beading is properly seated in the rim as on narrow tyres the valve can obstruct the bead from seating in the correct place: it is clear if you look at the tyre from the side. to avoid this when refitting you can push up the valve when tube is not yet fully inflated (away from the wheel into the tube) let the bead sit correctly and then let the valve go.0
