Hey guys an gals!

In July (yea i know its 2 months away) i'll be eligable for the CycleScheme and therefore have up to £1000 for a new bike!

My Last bike was a GT Avalanche 1.0 06 and unfortunately was stolen. I mainly just use my bike for Commuting on general roads, but also cycle around various terrain to other hobbies etc. Also try to get to Llandeglla and Cod-y-bren... a few times if i can with friends a year.

After bein told time an time again to go for full suss i'm still not too sure and not sure if can find one to suit my budget, so unless someone has a great suggestion, hardtail it will be.

I will have up to £1000 and possibly about £150ish cash to despose of. My ideas so far are:

Scott Scale 60 (09), with a view to upgrade the brakes

Commencal Combi Deluxe 2009 with view to upgrade shifters possibly

Commencal Combi Disc 2009 with view to upgrade forks and tyres??

Specialized FSR-XC Comp 09- Best FS i can find for this Budget.

Specialized Rockhopper Expert Disc 2009- Dont see the value in the upgrade to the Pro version
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/rockhopper-expert-disc-2009-mountain-bike-ec016015

Marin Hawkhill 09- with some cash left for improvements!

Or if my local bike shop can find one then a Scott Aspect FX-15 08 (the gunmetal one)

I know its a huge list but some help is greatly needed and will be appreciated!

I may add i have quite a stocky build at just 5"6' an weighing around 12.5 st the bike has to be light yet durable.

Thanks in advance. Phil

I don't know why you would need full sus for mainly road and trail use. :?
I think you have the right idea regarding the Specialized Rockhopper, it is a good base bike to start with and can be upgraded as parts wear out.

    Cheers

the full suspension bike looks good(FSRXC) the expert a good bike also, with some nice kit.

depends on what sort of terrain you looking to be going on.

Forget a full susser.look at the Merida matts tfs 700d,recently bought one and it's a cracker. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... 00-d-33658 I think there are some stores out there who can provide this bike on the cyclescheme..worth looking at IMO.you should be able to get one of these for about £850 to £900 which should leave you some money for a few nice accesories.

Commuting on a full sus will be hard work. You don't need it.

Get a very decent spec hard tail for 1k.
