I've been to Whinlatter 3 or 4 times and hopefully going up to Mabie or Ae in the next few weeks, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of anywhere closer to Carlisle to ride? I don't have use of a car so I can only really go further afield when someone else is driving.

you can get the train up to Dumfries and bike out to Mabie or Ae. You can also get the train down to Penrith as my daughters partner & mates do. Could put you in touch with them if you pm me.

try here, many Carlisle area riders

What type of trail do you usually ride, distance, bike etc?

A friend of mine from Carlisle rides up here at the 7 Stanes in Dumfries and Galloway, and its literally 30min drive from Carlisle to Dumfries on a good run.

Drop me a PM if you want any details of rides, or if you want to join us for a ride at Mabie, or Dalbeattie.

Can probably hitch a ride with a friend on way up here if you need a lift rather than trains.

A bunch of us are based in and around the carlisle area, usuallu ride most weekends, at places like Whinlatter, 7 stanes, Hamsterley, Keilder and further afield.

Check out http://jackrabbitt.net for details of us and make sure to have a look in our forum for details of rides every weekend.

    Trailpuppet:

Thanks for the reply, i am sure we have shared back tyre dirt at some stage lol

I ride Mabie and Dalbeattie mostly, and its normally on a Saturday (when off work) or a Sunday

I ride most evenings but normally local to me on a private trail.

    Where abouts do you live?

Dumfries, so can cycle out to Ae or Mabie, my spritual mtb nirvana. Quite intimate with Dalbeattie having ridden it long before it became the firts D&G Stane proper.

bungalistic...me and my Carlisle/Bikemagic buddies are heading for Bowderdale/Calf/Sedburgh/Ravenstonedale on 24th if any of you fancy it.
    Ravenstonedale for 9.30 I think.

    Hi!

I am from Carlisle too! I wouldn't mind coming on a ride out some times. Lived there for 2 years now but don't really know anyone or where to go.

Hi, group of us ride from Carlisle every Sunday, and weekdays too, usually 7stanes, and lakes trails and other bits further out too on occasion. Check out the site and forum over at http://www.jackrabbitt.net/forum or pm me on here.
