Bike Vs Police with Blues and Twos through traffic

Coming along Mile end road tonight towards Stratford, the traffic was nose to tail all the way down.
About 1/4 of the way down it I heard a siren. I kept going, several minutes later I could still hear it in the distance behind me, but I kept going.
3 miles of filtering traffic, and it's still behind me. I keep going aware that any moment cars will start ploughing left with gay abandon, but they never come. 3.5 miles later and I can hear it getting close so I pull into a bus stop out of the way of the bus lane. They still too ages to catch me (up)
Who'd have thought it? I'm faster than a police car through traffic, even with their blue flashy lights.
