Looking to upgrade my compact to double. Probably get the Ultegra double which I understand I usually need to buy the cups/bb seperately. Is it only the Ultegra range cups that will fit or can I 'upgrade these'. Reason I ask is I see that the Dura Ace cups are literally only a few quid more expensive so I'm guessing the performance difference is going to be fairly low but might be worth getting them if they fit. I'm wondering if the 7900 Dura Ace only fit 7900 cranks but 7800 Dura Ace cups might fit other Hollowtech II cranks. Anyone know if this is right?

Thanks

AFAIK they are all interchangeable. The MTB ones are different (wider) but any road BB should be fine.

I've used a 105 BB with a Tiagra chainset and IIRC I could have used a Dura-Ace BB if I wanted, hence you should be fine with an Ultegra chainset and DA BB so long as both are HT2.
