Carbon / Aluminium Danger !!!

I just pulled the alloy seatpost out of my PX SL Carbon. It is only six months old, and the only rain it has seen has been once when I was caught out in a shower. I was horrified to find severe pitting corrosion on the post. Carbon / aluminium is a poor combination in terms of galvanic corrosion. I was aware of this, but was quite shocked to see the extent of the damage in such a short time ... If you have a carbon / aluminium contact combination, it would be a good idea to check it...
.. who said that, internet forum people ?

I have a carbon chain stay/seat stay and alu seat tube combination.

They are, as far as I know, glued together.

So this happens if water gets in between the two materials, is that correct?

A well known problem since about 1990! Ask anyone who owned a carbon framed bike of the period, particularly the first Specialized Allez - split tubes and separating lugs were part of the fun.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
