Carrera Fury 07 opinions

Was in Halfords yesterday with a mate of mine that's looking to get into MTBing too. Wasn't there looking at bikes but they have a 3 for 2 on tools at the moment Noticed they were selling off the last 07 Carrera Fury they had for 399 euro. Got talking to the salesperson (there's one lad there that races XC so he knows his stuff, the rest are just the usual monkeys) and he let slip that he could give a 10% discount. Long story short, 10 minutes later we walk out the door with a deposit on the bike for my mate, a 15% discount (so it's now 340 euro) and a promised 15% off all accessories we buy when collecting the bike. He's also throwing in changing the seatpost clamp to a QR and a waterbottle and cage.
So I'm interested in hearing peoples opinions on this bike. I know the wheels on the 07 could be better but the rest of the spec; X7/X5, Tora 318, Tektro hydros, seems pretty good. Or am I fooling myself?
Also, he's 15 stone so I was wondering about changing the spring in the Toras. Where can I source a replacement firmer spring for these forks?
Thanks to all that reply.

Where did you find a 07 Fury? I contacted Halfords and they said they didn't have any left and where just selling the 08's until the new model came out."One thing that is worse than Carlton Kirby: people complaining about Carlton Kirby.
Talk about first world problems."

Halfords in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland. They have just the one left now in 16", the one we got was 18".0

when I bought my Fury the friendly halfords man said that they still had 07's in stock, as a few had been found in a central warehouse and needed to be cleared. This was at the end of March. Would have been £349, but wanted the 08 as the 07 was supposed to be a bit flexi. This was in store, not phone or the useless stock checker.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.

Have they beefed the frame up significantly? You mention the 07 being flexy...0

Not too much, but the review of the 07 said the rear could flex a bit.
Being 15 stone with big legs I thought it best to go for the 08.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
