It is one of the earlier GT XCR series, or early 'I Drive' - with the eccentric bottom bracket shell.0

yet another bike in a kitchen
Agree with supersonic on ID0 -
-
cool
this particular one has been sat festering in a garden for some time... the BB was stiff and pedals also
how easy is the i-drive business to service??
and does aanyone know how much rear travel it has? (want to find a good match of fork for it)
thanks0 -
Not easy to do, but are many online guides.
The bike has 4.6 inches of travel.0 -
thanks
would u also know what diameter seat post i need?
im hoping this is actually worth building too!!0 -
That I am not sure of! Probably 27.2 or 31.6mm.
Doesn't look like you have disc mounts, so I think you have a 1999 version XCR 1000.0 -
yes... no mounts thats a big let down.. but i think it will be a cool first full susser...
i have pretty much all other parts to build it except forkand stem
think ill give it a whirl tho...
what is the purpose of this fancy -drive stuff?
is it to adjust BB height? or does it swish about when u ride it?0 -
It prevents pedal feedback into the crank by keeping the chain length extension minimal through the travel.0
-
ha...
you make it sound good...
does it ride good!!!0 -
Yep! I used to have one. Pedals very smooth. Quite heavy, and a lot of bearings, but a great ride once going.0
-
cool....
id hate to build it to find out its a sack of spuds lol
cheers for that
cant seem to find a i-drive service guide on google (being a lamer)
does anyone have a PDF or a URL to one?
thanks!!0 -

can you tell me please what part snapped on this frame please0 -
Seat mast I bet ;-)0

supersonic
hey mate
what sort of price range where these??
thanks0 -
XCR4000 when released in 1999 was 899.99 with a RS Judy XC and 24 gears.
Top XCR1000 was over 2 grand. Yours could be a 4000 with stripped paint though, is hard to tell! It was a slightly different frame.
Either way, was a nice frame. I tested a 4000 back then and loved it.0 -

Those floor tiles are hideous!!!0 -

gustie, Sonic's right. The frame had a crack, both sides, extending forwards and upwards from the rear shock mount, on the seatmast. I had a small size frame which Halfords could only replace with a medium, which felt too big for me. That's why my dad got it. The bike cost around £1000 about 7 years ago. It came with RS psylos, XT and formula hydraulic discs. It was the most expensive MTB that Halfords had in store at the time.0

thanks
mine has a little tiny circular sticker on the seat tube - a yellow S in a circle - guessing its a small then
im going to pick it up soon so ill check the area you meantioned CHEERS
im a bit strapped for cash... but would love disk brakes but cant afford a whole new frame ETC
(thinking out load here) i wonder if one of the slightly newer ones rear sections could be swapped over for the original rear end...
i think maybe GT might have a spare back end? with mounts on it?0 -

Whoa, US$2,700 in 1999 - serioius cash
thanks for that link..
just remembered... on both of the main tubes up near the headstock and gussets.. both tubes are stamped with the easton logo - so this would seem to point out its a 2000 model?
since the 1999 model has 6061 T6 aluminum.... ??
thanks0 -
-
Easton could be 6061 alu!0
