Hi folks, looking for some advice on a new bike, getting back into mountain biking and I've narrowed my new bike down to a Kona Blast 07 model which I've found for £348 new. Is this a wise choice or should I be considering anything else?
Ideally looking for a decent spec starter bike where parts can be upgraded at a later date once I get more into it. Any help would be great. Cheers.

Nice one.
Reading around the forum it seems that Kona do not really get a mention, are they not rated?
Also just found out that GT Aggressor XC 1 is on offer at £439. Should I be looking at this instead for the money?0 -
My nearest trail centre uses Kona Blasts for all it's hire bikes, which I think says a lot, they obviously rate them. I had a Kona for 10 years as a kid and loved it, and now i'm back to mountain biking i've bought another. In fact it was hiring a Blast that sealed it I think! As always though the advice has to be go test ride one, then decide.0

To be honest I think I'm decided on a Kona now, pretty much exactly what I'm looking for with the potential to upgrade at a good price.
Cheers for the advice0 -
The Blast is a nice bike, buy one and enjoy it 8)0

Where did you find a Kona Blast 2007?? And In what size? I've been looking fora Blast but the 08 is only available at Paul's Cycles which is too far away to test ride it."One thing that is worse than Carlton Kirby: people complaining about Carlton Kirby.
Talk about first world problems."

I bought the 07 Cinder Kone in the end from Halfords. It was reduced to £403 and had the Hayes So1e hydraulic disc upgrade and Marzocchi MZ race fork. Took it out last night and found the brakes to be rubbish and after reading reviews about them that seems about right. Also not convinced the forks are working right so might be returning it and buy the blast, using the money I saved to buy some decent hydraulic brakes.
BlueDynamo; It's Halfords in Cumbernauld that have them, Blast is in 18" & 20" from memory with Deore F/R mech & shifters. Not sure if you phoned them up they could send it to a store near you.0
