Roof bar question

Hi everyone
A while back I asked who rated what roof mounts and i've decided to go for the Elite San Remo 3's as I like the idea of a secure mount for the front fork. My two queries are as follows:
1. It has been mentioned that the clamp shouldn't be used with carbon forks, both of my bikes have carbon forks does anyone think it will be a problem???
2. Does anyone own the San Remo who can confirm whether it will fit a Thule Aero bar OK???
Can anyone help please???
Many thanks

Re. (1), if the San Remo is anything like the Thule fork-mounted rack then it is carbon dropouts you need to worry about. Carbon forks should be fine so long as you have alu dropouts. I think only pretty expensive forks have carbon dropouts (like the Easton EC 90SLX).
Can't help on the roofbar fitting (2) though...0 -
The older style of San Remo mounts only work for square roof bars - they're not wide enough for anything else - dunno about the new ones though.
I wouldn't worry about carbon forks on a roof rack - when you see the speed that pro team cars go round corners and the forks don't snap like twigs, the relative mass and acceleration of a roundabout isn't going to cause too many problems- you'd have to corner at around 200mph+ in your car to get a similar load to a bike and rider cornering at 30mph!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
Can anyone post links to good roof bars? at good prices?0

San Remo should be fine with aero bars. My San Remo 80 are on Thule Aero. They are pretty adaptable.Rich0
