Specialized RockHopper V TREK 6000 series V Commencal Combi

Looking at a HT up to £700 (for a beginner) and the shop closest to me stocks the Spec Rockhopper, the TREK 6000 series and the Commencal Combi.
I intend to go and check them out sometime soon but in the mean time has anyone got any views on the 3 bikes or any faves?
There are other shops near me that stock other brands including Giant and GT and there is an Evans not too far away which seems to stock a lot (not so much in store though).
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
