Hi,

I am building a steel touring bike and intend to put full length mudguards on. There are plenty of full length (SKS ect..) ones around but none with a rear light built in... Does anyone know where you can find some with the light?

Thanks,
Tim

I removed the rear reflector from my SKS guards and fitted a light in it's place...works a treat.

Which light did you use, and how did you fix it? The only rear mudguard ones I can find are dynamo powered ones which I'd rather not get into..

I had the same dilema last year. Ended up getting one of these. Not cheap or retina searing power, but the best, perhaps the only one, I could find as I wanted a reflector built in as well.

I should point out that it has worked faultlessly all winter and still on its orignal batteries, mounted on full length SKS

That Jos light is the only battery mudguard light that I've seen (sometimes listed under the Spanninga brand name).
If you try using a regular small LED, like the Smart Superflash, it will end up pointing in the air unless you can rig up a wedge between it and the mudguard. If a light points up, it's pretty ineffective at anything other than close range.

Great that looks like the job. There is a more expensive one with 'Automatic' function.. not sure what this means?

I have a bracket that fixes where the reflector was on an SKS mudguard that I can mount just about any battery light to. It also fixes to racks. I've used it with a Smart 1W and Cateye lights and the lights can be set at the right angle (not pointing up). The bracket came with a bike I had built up, so I'm not sure where you get them from, but I suspect a few minutes with Google will find something similar.
