Just wondering what the riding is like donw there on the XC loops, the web site says rideable all year.

I'm down that neck of the wodds working and have some time to kill over the next couple of weeks.

Not interested in the free-ride side of things down there, just the XC stuff.

Is there anymore riding of a similar style around Northampton / Milton keynes / Bedford Area?

Cheers

  • Woburn isn't sign posted so you will have to follow your nose.
Chicksand's XC is very short, and the last time I was there was very poorly waymarked.
Harlestone Firs (Northampton) has a lot of trails through the trees, you would need some local knowledge to find the best bits.
Irchester CP, small, local knowledge required, and a bit more technical than the others.

I used to ride there while at uni at Northampton (94) way before it got so popular. Went back there for a blast last year. Despite being so busy I really enjoyed it. I could still remember the trails, there are loads more now, just get an os of the area and as before, follow your nose. I bumped into a few other riders and I tagged along with them, very nice bunch there, if any of you are out there, many thanks for a great mornings riding.

+1 for getting an OS map and finding your own route. There are some good trails you can link to include Stockgrove country park which has a pretty good cafe!
