I have a Giant SCR1.0 2007 with standard xero XR-3 wheels on. (low budget, I presume)
Looking to do a sensible upgrade to
Shimano Ultegra SLs.
Do you think that this would be a wise and noticible upgrade.
Thanks in advance

It would be a good upgrade as the wheels will be lighter and stiffer, so climbing will be easier, as will acceleration. Go for it!0

climbing is where I struggle the most at the moment....
Having said that, at 13.5st, I,m not the lightest of the bunch. This area could be my cheapest weight saving!!!0 -
I've just got a pair of RS80's to replace the wheels that came on my TCR advanced 3. They're a little bit more expensive than the other ultegra wheels but they're a bit lighter. The biggest difference is when you get out of the saddle on hills. They feel like they hold the speed better than my old wheels too, but considering the drop in spokes I guess that's predictable. And they look greatRacing for Fluid Fin Race Team in 2012 - www.fluidfin.co.uk0

Are the RS80s a higher spec than the Ultegra SLs??0

They have the same carbon laminate rims as the Dura-ace wheelset (or similar at least) rather than the scandium rims that the other ultegra sets have. Apparently the rims weigh in the region of 370g ish I think? Pretty light.Racing for Fluid Fin Race Team in 2012 - www.fluidfin.co.uk0
