Looking to spend about £250 - £400. Something light, adjustable, mainly for trail riding with about 100 - 120mm travel. Been out of the loop for about 10 years so have no idea what is good these days.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

100mm get an RS SID Team.
120mm get a Reba Team.Check deals on Merlin cycles for both.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the info. Was looking at the Reba... What's the deal with the 80/100/120mm ratings on these forks? Can you adjust the travel yourself or is it set when you buy it?

There is an internal spacer whic you can remove to change the travel. It involves dismantling/servicing the forks though.

Was under the impression that there were actually two types of reba forks,
one that could run either 80 or 100mm travel (depending on the spacer, and one that could run 100 or 120mm. So make sure you get a 120mm compatable one.

I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.

Personally i'd get the SID Teams over the Reba's, nothing wrong with the Reba's though as they come on the lower specc'd Sparks. But seeing as i'm guessing your building a light XC bike why not start off with the lighter fork from the start.
