I have an 08 Kona Kula, and was thinking about trying to lighten it with some choice upgrades, namely by removing the pretty basic bars, stem seat post and saddle. Thought i'd start with the stem and bars, and was thinking a RaceFace Deus. What do you reckon? Any advice?

Deus bars are about as light as you can get without going to carbon.Mine weighed just over 200g,decent rise and width too.I got mine for £50 with a matching stem from a deal on crc a while back.I think Evans has a deal on some OE Deus stams and posts at the moment,bu also try CRC,Wiggle and Merlin.

For seatposts I'd recommend the SMICA PRO.

Bars and stem, well the above offer is good, if any lighter than what you have - weigh them and find out? Same for seatpost really.

Kooka. SMICA and OnOne all do some great light weight srems though.

KCNC also do some light scandium posts and stems.

Depends on how much you want to spend

My OE bars were 350g so bars alone saved 150g!

Get out the scales as well, there's no point replacing parts for weight loss without knowing what they actually weigh. Though never tell your mates you do this, or they'll slag you rotten

how about your wheels and tryes, that'll give you the biggest benefit of weightloss surely.
