Halfords GT. Any good?

    You can't go wrong for the price. Halfords' GT bikes are, with some minor differences, re-badged GT Avalanches - good bikes. £280 for that bike seems very good value although if it is to be used for commuting on-road and will never see a trail I'd personally consider something else, or at the very least fit slick tyres.

    The GT's in Halfords are pretty heavy bikes, but I suppose all £280 bikes are going to
    be a bit lardy.

    That doesn't look too bad for the money. I can't help thinking though that even at full price a hydraulic disk brake equipped FS bike at that sort of price is too good to be true. Compromises will have been made somewhere.

    Like theboybilly says it depends on what it's to be used for. Unless it's exclusively for off-roading, you need the suspension and disk brakes, and you're on a very tight budget I'm sure your money would be better spent elsewhere. Even sticking slicks on it for commuting is going to put you over £300 and there are some very good, better suited bikes at that kin of price.

    What will you be using it for?
