    Yo,

I'm no expert or anything, but seems to me that you're getting some upgrades in important areas.. (wheels, cranks), however, the team spec is still good value for money..

If it was me, I would probably save the extra few quid and get the race version.. but thats me. At the end of the day mate, I think you'll be chuffed with either option, but I think its the same with everything.. if you can stretch it, go for the better option..

Hope that helps, good luck with whatever choice you make and happy riding.. :)

    +1 for above

As seems to be a common trend with my posts regarding Cube bikes, I would go for the LTD Race, one reason because I have one and think it is a brilliant bike, but also with the team I think as mentioned above you do benefit from a better crank set and wheels.

It is really annoying that the price rise haspushed this bike over £1000 though. What type of riding are you doing? Take my race from places like Sherwood Pines, to most recently the Peak District, and although only short travel for such as area it coped subrisingly well on more tough terrain.

    HTH :)

For the extra £70 you get a lot of upgrades, I went for the Race for that exact reason.

I did only pay a bit over £800 though, £1050 is a bit painful!!

If you have a look at this thread: http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopi ... c&start=20

Looks like WMB has given the LTD Race a 9/10 - even more reason to get one :) (Thanks to Eranu)

Im 5' 10 and fit the 18" fine, would suggest you get a test ride, even if it is only around a car park to check some sizing. I will grab a photo for you in a bit :) I would suggest you get some new pedals ready for when you get the bike as it comes with rubbish cage pedals (as most people change these straight way anyway) - I run Wellgo MG1's and recommend them as a good flat pedal.

I have the Race - a truly great bike - stupidly ordered the 20", am 5ft 10" and it was far to big. In the end ebayed the 20" frame and bought a new 18" which is the perfect fit and the bike is a joy to ride.

I really can recommend, used to ride a Spesh Rockhopper.

I've got the white & blue and love it. It's a lighter blue than the pictures on cubes site and is a glossy mirror finish. I've had plenty of black bikes and fancied a change. Glad I did, it's a bit bling

hehe this has been debated many a time before, whilst me and llama were contemplating getting ours as well if I remember! Was tempted by the white but though it would go a bit out of 'trend' after a while + black you can kind of get away with not cleaning occainsionaly!

Are there any good deals around on these bikes?

I've fallen in love with the Cube LTD Race but can't really spend more than £800-900 because I need to buy a load of accessories, etc.

Where did you get yours from for ~£800 Llamafarmer?
Has it increased in price a lot in the last 6 months or something?

I was tempted by the white, but definitely think black was the right choice, much more subtle. I'd get some bike tape if I were you though, the cables will tarnish the anodising pretty quickly.

The increase has happen in the last month! Its a bugger, managed to get mine just before the hike, I reckon you will be struggling to get any deals unless you try and strike something up with your local dealer

Bought mine in Bristol in February, it was £900 RRP when I bought it, but I got 10% off through my local MTB club.

There might be a shop that'll still do you the old price, but it's probably a long shot unfortunately! :(

Hey guys, sorry to barge in on your link, but i noticed the interest in Cube bikes. I have the 2009 Cube Ltd Team in Black Candy Green that I'm selling. It's only 4 months old and has done 3 trips to Dalby and one to Wales. RRP is £979 and it's mint and scratch free.
Selling to upgrade to a full sus, anyone interested for £720?
  • The price hike was a b*tch, looked at the Reaction priced at £1200 one Sat afternoon. Decided to go for it, went in to pay deposit and order a few days later and it had gone upto £1400. Although I did managed to purchase it for £1260 (10% off) but I was buying a Marin for the wife at the same time !

Anyway, I think first off you should try for some money off, as above the shops can defo move on RRP, remeber don't ask don't get. Secondly I would say get the highest spec you can stretch you budget to, even if it means waiting another pay day or 2, It'll pay off in the long run.

Sorry for all the waffle, just my 2 pennies worth, just can't shut up once I start .......

Hey :) thnx for the info about wigston selling these bikes,, phoned this morning... and after a little chat he did offer me either a Cube race at £1050 ,, :0(
OR he said he had a 18" LTD Team in black and green (my fave colour scheme!!) that i could jhave at the old price of 849.... as he had bought it b4 the price hike... and was willing to let me have it at old price,, RESULT!.. lol

I know i wanted the race... but i prefer the colour of the team... and itsalready more bike than im ever gonna need :) and i couldent justify 200 quid to move up to the race..

Boss at work stuck it on his CC and is gonna put it through a cyckle scheme for me so i can claw back the NI and Tax on it... i reckon i end up payin just under £500 for it.... not bad for a £980 quuid bike!,, heh..

Thnx again for the heads up,,,,, worked out better than i expected :)
