Hi -

I've not ridden for a few years, and am really out of practice, but I'm wanting to get back into biking. My budget's pretty tight, but I'm currently weighing up between a Giant Yukon FX (http://www.ashcycles.com/power/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=847&currency=BP) and a Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc (http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-Hardrock-Pro-Disc-Mountain-Bike-2009-Hardtail-MTB_20992.htm), and wanted some feedback on these and/or ideas about other similar types of bikes.

I'm not sure how much real offroading I'll be doing, so may go towards a hardtail rather than full sus, but what do you guys think? Up to £475 I'm thinking... I'm also looking for as light as possible, having last owned a pimped up Peter Grisley (what happened to him..?!).

Thanks a load in advance.
:)

Hmmm, try doing a search for the bikes you're considering. The Specialized Hardrock and Rockhopper question is on here almost everyday.

Pesonally, at that price range, I'd get it.

But like I said, do a search through the forums, using the search facility on the top right of the page.

I'll let you off this time, as your new :lol:

Try and get a test ride too, find out what size you are, and if it feels right. If you get some experience, you should know what feels good and what doesn't. Enjoy!!!

PS, sorry if I sound 'bitchy', I don't mean to, just a bit tired

Okay, thanks - I had a feeling I may get some disgruntled responses, which are fair enough if there are a load of similar questions. I get the same in forums in which I'm less of a novice... Seems that people do push towards Specialized, but I was simply interested if anybody had used the Giant Yukon range, and where else they may think of spending their quids. I've been told to check out the similarly priced Diamond Backs, which I found kind of surprising.

Anyway - get some rest! - appreciate your time.
